Writtle Minors enters teams in organised football at the Under 8 age group.

For younger children, our Youth Development Section is for boys and girls within the age range of 5 years to under 7 years (that is those who become 7 years old after 1st September).

Young people must be 5 years old before they can be accepted into the YDS and annual intake usually consists of mainly 5 and 6 year olds.

Intake to the YDS commences on the first Saturday in September each year to an overall maximum of 33.

The YDS coaching sessions take place every Saturday morning 9am to 10:20am weather permitting.  Training takes place primarily at our Paradise Road ground but the YDS also trains on the superb synthetic "premiership quality" surface at Westland's school for part of the winter.

The aims of the Youth Development Section are to give young players the opportunity to learn and develop basic skills and techniques, enjoy small sided games, become good sportspersons and most of all, have fun!

Objectives are to enable young people to attain and develop a knowledge of basic skills and techniques and enjoy being able to demonstrate and use their learned abilities, to give them confidence to progress and participate, if they wish, into the world of Mini-Soccer at the Under 8's level, and be able from thereon to take an enjoyable part in Football at whatever level they play.

If your son or daughter is interested in joining our YDS section, please send an e-mail to info@wmfc.co.uk or contact our Youth Development Officer Steve Frostick on 01245 248704 and we can tell you if we have spare places available and where we are currently training.
